The next unpublished work is "Now, Let's Step Off a Bit," 24 pages, 1988.

I drew this after "Crocodile," which won a newcomer's award in a young men's magazine. This one even won an even higher award, "Honorable Mention."

It's an amazing shojo manga. It was for a young men's magazine, though.

I drew this and moved to Tokyo. The award ceremony was about a year later, but in the meantime I submitted my work to a ladies' comic magazine and made my debut.

As a newcomer, I didn't have time to work for two magazines, so I only attended the award ceremony for the young men's magazine and ended up drawing only one storyboard and giving up. What a waste.

It's a waste, but I think it was too mainstream for a young men's magazine. At the very least, I don't think I ever made it to a horror magazine after that. In that sense, maybe it was the right choice.

続いての、未発表作品『さあ、ちょっと足を踏み外してみよう』24p 1988年。

青年誌で新人賞を取った『ワニ』の次に描いたもの。こちらはさらに上の『佳作』を取った。

すごい少女漫画だ。青年誌だけど。

これを描いて上京。一年後くらいに授賞式があったんだけど、その間にレディスコミック誌に投稿してあっさりデビュー。

新人なので２誌掛け持ちする時間がなくて、青年誌は授賞式だけ出て、結局ネーム1本だけ描いて諦めた。もったいない。

もったいないけど、メジャーすぎて青年誌は無理だったんじゃないかな。少なくともその後、ホラー誌に行くことはなかったと思う。そういう意味では正しい選択だったのか。
